The Seven Judgements

The Bible talks about 7 judgments and seven groups of people who will be subjected to them.

1. The sins of the believers are judged by the death of Jesus on the cross

John12:32

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins on the cross through his death.

Hebrews 9:28

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many.

Hebrews 9:26

But now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Hebrews 9:15

And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. The sins of all humanity was judged when Jesus died on the cross. The sacrifice of himself resulted in him bearing the judgment for our sins and resulting in our freedom from the power of sin - Romans 6:18 reveals being then made free from sin . Hallelujah we are free from sin.

Romans 6:14

For sin shall not have dominion over you

2. Self Judgment by the believer

1 Corinthians 11:31

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

1 Corinthians 11:32

But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. This is something which should be done by every believer every day. Examining and finding out whether his relationship with the Lord has been affected by his doing something which is displeasing to the Lord. A believer examining himself can live a life of continuous fellowship with the Lord

Failure to do so may result in chastisement by the Lord (1 Corinthians 11:32)

Such chastisement may be grievous Hebrews 12:11

The chastisement of the Lord for taking part unworthily in the Lord’s table may take the following forms (1 Corinthians 11:30 )

Weakness of the body
Sickness
Death before the time

3. Believers works to be Judged

Romans 14:10

For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ

2 Corinthians 5:10

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
The place where this judgment takes place is in heaven. The time of this judgment will be the time phase between the rapture and the second coming of Jesus Christ.

4. Judgment of Israel

Ezekiel 20:37-38

And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant: [38] And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the Lord. Israel will be judged for her many centuries of rebellion

5. Judgment of Rebellious Angels

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Jude 1:6

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. What sin the angels committed is not mentioned . It could have been the sin of joining with Lucifer in his rebellion against God. Jude talks about the angels who kept not their first estate. Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Whatever it may be the fact is clear that as per 2 Peter 2:4 they sinned and God did not spare them but cast them down to hell

Facts on the fallen angels

The angels sinned and left their first habitation
They are kept in everlasting chains
They are awaiting unto the judgement of the great day

Hell = tartaroo

Thayer Definition

1) the name of the subterranean region, doleful and dark, regarded by the ancient Greeks as the abode of the wicked dead, where they suffer punishment for their evil deeds; it answers to Gehenna of the Jews

2) to thrust down to Tartarus, to hold captive in Tartarus

Tartaros (the deepest abyss of Hell)

Facts about Tartarus

  1. It is a prison for angels (2 Peter 2:4)

  2. It is located under the earth (2 Peter 2:4)

  3. It is a place of confinement for angels until the judgment (2 Peter 2:4; Revelation 20:11-15; Jude 1:6)

  4. It is a place of darkness (Jude 1:6-7)

The word is used only here, but in Greek writings tartarus was held to be a place in the earth lower than hades where the Titans, the primeval deities or the giants who were supposed to be the first children of the earth and even older than the Greek gods, were cast when they lost their war with Zeus

6. Judgments of the gentile Nations

Matthew 25:31

When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

Matthew 25:32

And before him shall be gathered all nations: The time when this will take place is when the Son of man comes in his glory alongwith all his holy angels. Jesus revealed when this would be . It would be immediately after the tribulation shall appear the son of man with power and great glory

Matthew 24:29

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Matthew 24:30

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

The subjects would be the living nations

The test would be, How they treated those who Jesus calls as "My bretheren" - Matthew 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Great White Throne Judgment

This is the judgment of the wicked dead Revelation 20:11-15-very clearly describes about this.

The people who will be judged are the wicked dead

Revelation 20:12

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. The subjects are the dead who are not judged at the judgement of the nations 1000 years earlier. It includes all the dead irrespective of where they are. Revelation 20:13 reveals " And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them".

These include all wicked people from Adam to end of Millennium whether they be small or great. They will stand before the great judge God . God is seated on a great White throne. The period is after the Millennium (Revelation 20:7-15) and after the devil is cast into the lake of fire and brimstone

The basis of judgement is whether their names are found written in the Book of life

Revelation 20:12

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Revelation 20:15

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. This judgment decides their final place of abode which is forever and ever. Today child of God do you know that there are millions of people who are not saved and whose names are not written in the Lamb’s book of Life . Is it not your duty to go and tell the gospel to the perishing millions who do not know the truth about Jesus. Jesus said in Mark 16:15 - Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Understand that Jesus is speaking these words to you. Go and tell the gospel according to the words of Jesus , see them saved and rejoice in the fact that their names are written in the Book of Life. May God bless you as you obey his words
